About Roberto Simões

Brazilian-born, Berlin-based artist.

My work explores the symbolic visual languages found in ancient animist traditions, cultures that treated everything as sacred. Their role was not to master nature but to flow with it.

I bring their visual systems into contemporary life through a geometric-archetypal art. Large-format originals are also animated into music videos with original songs rooted in pop-tribal rhythms.

In 2004, I spent 30 days in tribes across the Brazilian Amazon documenting indigenous craftsmanship. That experience opened a question I couldn't answer for over a decade.

In 2015, I began studying within a structured oral lineage in the hermetic tradition, and for the first time I could see what the Amazonian artisans had always known: art is a dialogue with nature. I founded dAtria Studio in 2023 to bring animist wisdom and intentional beauty into contemporary art.
